CENERGI SEA WINS THREE AWARDS AT NEA 2025
Kuala Lumpur, 1 October 2025 – Cenergi SEA Berhad (Cenergi), a subsidiary of UEM Lestra Berhad, has reinforced its position as one of Malaysia’s leading sustainable energy companies by securing three awards under the “Renewable Energy – On Grid (National Grid)” category at the 8th National Energy Awards (NEA) 2025.
The awards were presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Yusof, at a ceremony held on 25 September 2025 at Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

Cenergi NEDA Power Sg. Tiang 11.3MWp, Kedah – Pioneering Merchant Solar GeneratorRecognised as Malaysia’s first merchant solar generator and PV agrivoltaic farm, this project combines solar energy generation with crop cultivation.

Cenergi Langkap 1.56MW Biogas Plant, Perak – Malaysia's First Carbon Credit Verified POME Biogas Power PlantThis project showcases how climate financing can accelerate Malaysia’s transition to low-carbon solutions.
These recognitions underscore Cenergi’s leadership as Malaysia’s largest grid-connected POME biogas developer, with 21 operating plants nationwide. Since its establishment in 2013, Cenergi has built a diversified portfolio spanning bioenergy, solar, and small hydro.
Additionally, Cenergi continues to pioneer innovation in carbon financing via carbon credits. Cenergi Langkap Biogas Plant became the first in Malaysia to generate verified technology-based carbon credits traded on the Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX).
Cenergi also plays an industry-shaping role as a founding member of the Biogas Project Developers Association (BPDA) – a national platform that unites bioenergy players and engages policymakers to accelerate the growth of the sector.
Cenergi SEA Group CEO, Ir. Kwok Yew Hoe, said, “Cenergi will continue to focus on bringing new ways of converting wastes into energy while reducing carbon emissions. We deliver renewable energy to consumers and end-users through products such as renewable electricity from biogas, solar, and small hydro, certified biomethane from palm oil waste, as well as certified Carbon Credits and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
We also strongly support R&D and innovation, particularly in utilising agricultural waste for energy transition, and encourage the increasing role of Malaysian universities in developing home-grown solutions.”
As Malaysia advances its renewable energy journey, Cenergi acknowledges the important role of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) and the Energy Commission (ST), whose policies and support continue to drive nationwide adoption of renewable energy initiatives.
The NEA 2025, organised by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) as the secretariat, recognises organisations and projects that exemplify excellence, innovation, and leadership in advancing Malaysia’s energy transition.
